An independent Canadian preferred share database — who runs it, where the data comes from, and how it is calculated.
PreferredSharesData.com is a reference database for Canadian preferred shares: a searchable screener covering every active series on the exchange, yield rankings, per-symbol pages, split-share corporation data, and plain-English guides. It exists because preferred share information in Canada is scattered across dozens of issuer pages and hard to compare in one place.
The site is not a brokerage, does not sell securities, and is not affiliated with any issuer, bank, or investment dealer. Nothing on it is investment advice — it is a research tool.
PreferredSharesData.com is an independent Canadian project, built and maintained by a small team of self-directed investors who wanted a single, honest source for preferred share data and couldn't find one. No outside investors, no sponsored content, and no issuer pays to appear here or to change how their securities are presented.
Questions, corrections, and criticism are all welcome: [email protected].
Prices and market data (last price, volume, 52-week range) are refreshed each business day after market close, so figures reflect the previous trading session — not live quotes.
Dividend terms (rate, frequency, reset spreads, call and reset dates) come from each issue's offering documents and are maintained as deals change. Reset dates and spreads are deal terms, not estimates.
Current yield is calculated on-site — annualized dividend divided by the latest price — rather than accepting a vendor's pre-computed figure. This is deliberate: published yield values are frequently stale or inconsistent across series, and computing them the same way for every share is the only way rankings are comparable. Where the underlying dividend or price is missing, the yield shows as unavailable instead of a guess.
Derived analytics — yield to worst, yield to call, projected yield at reset, duration — are labeled as estimates wherever they appear, and are not computed at all for structures (like capped or contingent-coupon products) where the math would be misleading.
Browsing, screening, rankings, and every symbol page are free — no account needed. Creating a free account unlocks the full analysis columns: dividend and yield details, reset economics, and ratings across the whole table.
The long-form Canadian preferred shares guide and the blog are free for everyone.
Data is compiled and calculated with care, but errors happen — issuers occasionally restate terms, and corporate actions can lag by a day or two. Verified corrections get fixed quickly and are genuinely appreciated.
Nothing here considers your personal situation. Before acting on anything you read, verify the terms in the issuer's official documents and talk to a qualified advisor. See the full disclaimer in the site footer.
Data corrections, account questions, feedback, or feature requests — all go to the same place:
